How it happened...
It all started when Ryan took me to the Brodkeys in Grand Island and had me point out different rings that I liked. I knew from previous experience that he wouldn't pick out an engagement ring without first finding out what I thought was cute, so I knew that something big was coming, but didn't know when!
The weekend of June 11-13 we decided to go back to our hometown and visit our families, and Ryan set up a dinner with both my parents and his. I had a tiny feeling that maybe something would happen, but I just kind of pushed it out of my head. Little did I know that Ryan had texted both my Mom and my Dad and set up a little rendezvous breakfast for about 3 AM on that Sunday (June 13th) when my Dad got off work from the night before, and I was sleeping. It was at that point that he asked for my parent's blessing to ask for my hand in marriage. Of course my parents both said yes and were extremely excited for dinner that night, but had to hold it in so I wouldn't get suspicious.
Around 5:30 that night we had all gotten dolled up and went out to Pizza King in Council Bluffs. My dad had reserved a big area in the back of the lounge. The setting was perfect as the lights were dimmed and the decorations along the back wall created a fantastic backdrop. We were all chit chatting and about to dig in to our appetizers when Ryan akwardly interrupted everyone and started telling them all how wonderful I was and how much he loved me (and I definitely wasn't going to stop him! ). I was flattered to say the least and had the biggest smile on my face that I've probably ever had. Ryan went on to say that he couldn't imagine his life without me. At that point, Ryan stood up, and I saw the ring box in his hand. Ryan then got down on one knee and asked me to be his wife. After a few "Oh my Gosh Oh my Gosh Oh my Gosh" moments passed in my head, I blurted out an "Of course!" and stood up and gave him a big hug and kiss. The rest of the dinner was spent chatting about how long he'd been planning it, and what kind of plans we were thinking of having for our wedding.
